Many starter motors have unprotected needle cages outside the output shaft seal; moisture can enter the electric motor's output cap and follow the armature to the unprotected needle cage, potentially causing bearing corrosion. Rick's allows for the installation of a double-sealed ball bearing, with the output shaft seal placed outside the bearing in its new aftermarket unit.

This simple application designed with engineers' common sense allows for two things: firstly, the outside of the bearing is now protected against water damage, and secondly, the sealed ball bearing can be replaced.
